Some 159 hot spots detected in Riau province

Pekanbaru, Riau Province (ANTARA News) - Some 159 hot spots of forest and plantation fires were detected in Riau, according to information from the meteorological, climatology, and geophysics station of Sultan Syarif Kasim airport II, here on Tuesday.
Based on the latest monitoring of NOAA 18 Satellite, the hot spots were detected in 11 out of the existing 12 districts in the province, Warih Lestari of the local meteorological station, said.
The hot spots spread in Rokan Hilir district (55 hot spots), Pelelawan district (24), Rokan Hulu (17), Kuantan Singingi and Indragiri Hulu districts (respectively 13), Bengkalis district (11), Kampar (10), Siak (seven), Indragiri Hilir district (six), Pekanbaru (one), and Dumai City (two).
The hot spots have produced haze covering the province. (*)
