Beijing (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec, 600028.SH; SNP.NYSE) has started to build a catalytic gasoline absorption-desulfurization unit in its Shanghai Gaoqiao Refinery, which will be able to produce clean fuels meeting Euro IV standards as from 2010, its parent company Sinopec Group said on its website Monday.

This production unit adopts new technology from ConocoPhillips, aiming to reduce air pollution in Shanghai before the 2010 World Expo, which will open in Shanghai on May 1, 2010.

Sinopec Group said construction of the unit would be completed by the end of 2009, with annual production of 1.2 million tons of gasoline, or 27,781 barrels per day.
