Nigeria: Country, Others to Confront Climate Change Problems

New Minister of Environment, Mr. John Odey has declared that the country will not delay in its efforts to collaborate with other countries with a view to tackle the problems of climate change now endangering the global environment.
Mr. Odey, who made the declaration weekend in Abuja, while meeting with top management of the ministry ahead of his formal assumption of duty, said the issue of climate change has assumed front burner globally and Nigeria as a leading nation in Africa will join others in reversing the trend.
He added that, "we all know the issue of climate change has assumed a front burner in the international discourse. The problem is a major global issue which needs multi-lateral efforts from all nations of the world to tackle and Nigeria which has played a leading role internationally in terms of peace-keeping and other developmental efforts cannot afford to lag in this crucial respect".
